Manuafacturer's Description:

This is our newest two-rail roof rack with light bar; and it is considered to be just above the Adventure rack sold by Land Rover for around $1,100. Our racks are a true adventure rack made for durable hauls and maximum functionality. Please do not confuse our Mountaineer Rack with the Wilderness rack that sells for $560. The Mountaineer is comprised of almost twice as much material. We custom build these racks out of the best material and they are sold mostly to the expeditionist or the long haul off roader. It fits any Series I or II Discovery.

The Rack follows the contour of drop down on the roof and looks great! The rack?s inside top rail dimension measures 52?x 89 1/2? and 4 inches of basket depth. The weight capacity has been tested just over 500 pounds, this rack will hold more than the rain gutter drip rails will support. Our new upgrades include square tubing in the floor and a condensed light bar on the front cap. There are 4 light mounts in the front and one in the rear. Lights are not included with this rack.

In looking at the design of the mounts for the front lights, I decided to change to a bigger and more durable style bracket. The rear light mount now comes as a stock item to accommodate the new Hallo rear swivel light. This enables you to aim it where you need the light.

Our accessory mounts that bolt to the side brackets to free up the basket area. This system doesn?t obstruct the view of the rack because the design allows the accessories to hang below the side rails, but yet above the rain gutter. Consequently, the off road gear such as your Hi-Lift jack, shovel, sand ladders, etc? that would normally take up space inside your rack can be mounted to the mounting holes placed in the side brackets. These accessory mounts come in a set of two for an additional $25.00.

Each rack has been issued a serial number that is displayed in two areas, inside the side display panels, welded at the rear of each side rail section.
The overall height of this new rack installed on a Discovery is 86-5/8" from the ground with 235-R70-16" tires mounted.

The entire rack brakes down into sections so that it can safely be shipped. The rack is packed in two boxes carefully bubble wrapped and can be shipped either UPS or Fed-Ex. It can be shipped to any of the lower 48 for $89. We can ship to other places but e-mail us for a special quote.

This Mountaineer Roof Rack design brings adventure right into you driveway, as well as making a statement of durability, style and class. Additional Floor Rails, Ladders and Spare Tire Mounts are available

Due to the overwhelming demand for Ruff Rider Products we are not taking orders at this time.

jesus h. christ why can't people have someone who got past 6th grade proof read their ad copy before they put it on the web?

It's above the Safety Devices rack, sure enough... by about a friggin FOOT.

I'll go $250 delivered just because the GOOD racks are hard to come by cheaply.

I heard a rumour that there has been a container FULL of LR Adventure racks sitting at port for several months and the container is going to auction or some other type of liquidation since duty was not paid- which means a significant amount will hit the market soon. Dunno if it's true, but ya never know.

Yeah, I can imagine that. Land Rover didn't pay a duty. Yeah whatever.

Even if the story were true and not wishful thinking, do you know how many Safety Devices Highlander racks fit into a shipping container? 100? 50? It's a whopping 16. 16 racks completely fill a 40' shipping container. Hardly a "significant amount".

In my opinion, its not too bad.. just a bit different.. i'm not a huge fan of the rain gutter mounts.. and the only other thing is the lights being "hanged".. but thats just different, not necessarily wrong..
