LR3 battery recommendations?

More electrical mayhem....now my stereo is cycling off every 10 seconds...stays off for 4 seconds then back on for 10, off for 4, etc. I first thought it was constantly trying to pair with my phone so I turned off phone bluetooth and deleted my phone from the Land Rover's menu but the stereo is still cycling on & off. Happens no matter what input is chosen - stereo, XM, CD, etc. I disconnected the new battery negative lead and reconnected and it's still doing it. I also had to reprogram my window switches after I installed the new battery.

Do you think my head unit is fried and needs to be replaced?

Blue, opening any door causes the ECUs to boot up, so doing it multiple times will drain a tired battery. If I know I'll be doing it a bunch, I just leave one open so it only boots up that one time. The tailgate does not cause everything to boot up, so that isn't a problem. I also turn off the auto-interior lights (press and hold middle button until you see the message on the dash). Mine are all LED, no issues there. I've also killed it by leaving my phone connected to my GAP that was left plugged in, so another thing to look at. Speaking of the GAP tool, did you use it to reset the BMS when you installed the new battery? Having to reset the windows after installing a new battery is standard. As for the stereo, no idea there!

I do not have a GAP tool and have no idea about resetting the BMS (battery management system - just guessing at the acronym here).

and good advice about just leaving one door open and thanks for the tip about turning off the auto-interior lights - didn't realize that was an option!

Leaving one door open is a good idea. Never thought of that.

IIRC opening the hatch will turn on the lights but NOT boot the ECUs. If you drop the tailgate, the truck boots up.

I wish there was a "camp mode" you could switch on/off.

That's why I'm thinking about installing a battery cut-off switch. One of those rotary dial things mounted in the footwell. Then I'll have to reset the damn clock and windows every time. And it appears the truck doesn't like losing power....

Do a hard reset as your first Hail Mary on this radio cutting out. There was software issues that caused radios to keep booting like that. But not sure why that would start all of a sudden after a dead battery.
It’s going to come down to fail codes to pick a direction to go.

You sure about this? I replaced my battery without any such reset and my windows work just fine. I do have a GAP tool in case this is necessary. Not challenging the advice, just curious to learn more since I had never seen heard of this before.

The LR3 doesn’t have a battery monitor. The LR4 does. The windows will work and probably have the one touch down feature too. But the one touch up should be disabled after the battery is disconnected. That would be normal.

Most of the problems from not resetting the battery monitor probably wouldn’t happen to a LR4. Maybe you would see a battery low please start engine message.
What happens on some other models is the power tailgate won’t work unless the engine is running. Eco stop function stops working. But you probably don’t have that

Updating my previous comment. Out of curiosity, I took a look in my GAP user's manual. Found this:
Battery Replacement (L322-10, L319-10, L320-10, L550)
This routine will reset the stored battery monitoring data.

Usage - This routine is required after the battery is replaced

I know L319 is the designation used for both the LR3 and LR4 and based on @discostew comment, the "L319-10" would refer to the LR4, which was released in 2010 along with significant updates to the L322 and L320. So the command might be an option if I go looking for it in my GAP menu, but it sounds like it's not relevant to the LR3. Or at least of minimal importance if all it does is control the one-touch function. Which I wouldn't miss, I don't like that feature.

I removed both battery leads and jumped them to completely drain all power from the truck. Didn’t make a difference on the radio issue. Any other ideas?

Just researched hard reset and I went back and disconnected batter leads for 20+ minutes, then wired the leads together for 10+ minutes. Didn't make a difference. I'll connect my OBDII scanner and see if anything appears. Will something show up on a full truck scan if I take it in to my local independent Land Rover mechanic?

I'm just surprised you don't have a GAP. I think that was the first thing I picked up for mine, as I had the impression it was a must-have item with these newer vehicles.

But for diagnostic purposes I should probably pick one up.
It's pretty handy. I've only scratched the surface of its capability, but it has already paid for itself. I've synced a new key, recalibrated suspension, changed the tire diameter setting, plus a few other things I'm forgetting. Plus it has more live data than you can reasonably track.

Oh, I did not know that this magical device had all of these capabilities. You had me a synced a new key, not to mention change tire diameter settings.
