I had an opportunity to get a dual battery system installed yesterday in my '96 D1 and after repositioning the PS reservoir to make room for the 2nd battery, I only have 3/4" for air intake after cutting the trumpet which leaves no room to turn the Mantec flex hose into the air cleaner box. Is there a best practices here for those of you who have done this before? The Mantec instructions suck and the older pictures are being held ransom so hard to visualize how to make this work for best performance and an air tight solution.:banghead:

I copied what ARB did for their snorkel. They don't sell the parts individually. I welded up some tube, made a flange on the side of the box, cut a hole in the fender, moved the air filter over an inch or so to allow it to fit (copied the distnace it moved off of a friends safari snorkel) and coupled everything with silicon hoses. There is not enough room for a radius in the bend, so its mitered. The black tube in the rendering is the mantec snorkel. It stops exactly where it needs to for this setup. I didnt need to modify the snorkel other than ditching the dryer hose. I sealed up the airbox by plastic welding the piece I cut out for the side flange over the front flange, then silicon sealed it up for insurance.

The hole goes right where the boss on the inner fender is for the 200tdi breather.

tube o.d. was 2.75" and it looks like the radius for the silicon elbow I used was 2.375.

Ask randy Williams aka ROVEROVER if he has pictures of my old truck. I installed a bmc inline filter and samco hose. Not inexpensive but completely water tight and it looked xxxtreem.

Put anything flat over the snorkel and immediately stalled the engine.
