Rovers North just ordered me one from europe for my driver side. I installed it and im pretty excited to have a working window in the summer.. I had an issue with motors getting wet and failing every 6 months. Not any more!! Now its time to convert all the windows over.

it was 150 for the regulator, part # ALR6473, the handle is backordered and is $12. youll also need the track that bolts to the window (didnt know till i got into the job) i endedup shaving down the plastic guide pullys to fit the stock one on my truck. Call Art at Rovers North, He'll know whats going on.

$150 to go backwards in technology? I get the whole simplify things thinking, but these power windows aren't that complicated. Personally I like being able to roll up both front windows with one hand while throwing down with the other. ;)

Madison. You know Clint Paul at Mad City Rovers?

What make regulator is it? I've had the part numbers for a while, but put off ordering because I've heard rumors of fitment issues.
Looks like I'll have my wife bring all 4 back with her next time she's in the UK. :)

It was marked as a land rover part made in france. the sticker looks like the land rover original equipment logo. The only issue I had was it did not come with the top track that bolts to the bottom of the window and the plastic pulleys are larger than the power ones and they are square not round, so i just trimmed the square pulleys and put it all together. my door had all the holes need to mount. it will use different holes than the power window.

Or you could order it direct from the UK, http://www.paddockspares.com/alr6473-front-window-regulator-lh-manual-from-ma081991.html

43GBP is roughly $65. I'm sure shipping would be less than $85 even from the UK.

Why bother? How many times have you had to replace a regulator or motor?

Certainly not often enough to be bothered with this.

I drove a DI almost five years, a minimum of 98 miles a day five days a week. Even I only had to put one regulator in a front door and one in a rear door.

That truck now has more than 220K miles on it and one of the few things that still works is the windows.

Now, if you wanna replace the glass with Lexan and use nylon webbing straps and pins to hold the windows up, I'll be impressed.

FWIW-I can get those parts for less than $150/each.

Why bother replying to this post? I guess you didn't read the whole thread. I have had to replace too many motors and I want my truck bare bones with no electrical crap. Im not trying to impress any of you out there. I posted this because there is no post on any other forum about this so I figured Id let all the non pretentious Rover owners know these parts are available.

Welcome to Discoweb

Why not fix the leak? I think that is the question here.

I do understand the manual windows though but not because they get wet. I had a Jetta that had THE worst window mechs ever, those are junk. I converted the fronts to manual but left the rear as power, such a pain to roll those down while driving. Steering with my feet while in the back seat is dangerous.

I just wanted hand crank windows, less electrical. I have to cross water a lot and it will always get in somewhere. I have only had to replace 1 rear motor so those will stay for now as well as both sunroofs. Im gutting the inside and turning it into more of a classic series looking interior and replacing all the door panels with custom made aluminum ones. I like having a modern truck with not very much to it thats why I went with the 98.

you can lead a horse to water.......

ever notice how the old scissor type electric regulators almost never fail? in 8 years i have never replaced a window regulator (except for one of my own trucks of course) in a rover. newer wire rope style regulators fail like its their job, but the old spring assisted power regulators are fine.

to the original poster, if you feel the need to cross water, why not use something intended to cross water like a
kenny-powers-dunk-sb-low-safari-01.jpg
or something??? you watched too many camel trophy youtubes.
