Dont do it. those tires SUCK. i had two blow out and both had good tread left. Another buddy had the same problem on his LWB. anything but sychrones....Gordo

Yes. I don't have a particular attachment to this brand/model certainly not the size but I'm in kinda of a premature rear tire wear situation; brand new synchrone worn on the outside shoulder in less than a year. Same thing on the other side. There is an underlying issue I know...I just haven't had time to investigate/fix it or have it fixed. So, I've been punishing myself and trying to buy up as many Synchrones for the rears since the fronts have lots of meat.

as soon as I eliminate the problem, i will change tire brand/size.

Things I'm thinking or have been told it could be...alignment (but seems too easy of a culprit-plus its in the rear), worn suspension, bent axle housing, need to replace the stub axle.

it also could be a combination of things- one of which might be you are searching for obsolete tires in a silly pizza cutter size that were never wide enough for the vehicle to start with

in other words...you feel the size is wrong for the truck...well, in that case I agree. but surely that is not what is causing premature wear...

dude where r you coming from?...I already said that I haven't had time to get to the cause. NO-obviously feeding it used tires is not a solution-but it keeps me on the road. Do you have a Synchrone? Or would you care to share some of what your "combination of things" could be?- Seriously, I'm listening-it'll help me narrow down my list of possibilities and speed things along for when I have a weekend off to break things down. I see you have a LR "parts store". Maybe you could sell me a part I might need to fix my problem?Otherwise-I'm not sure why you are posting...?

I daily drive a 95 Classic, and a 95 Classic parts truck. I am also less than an hour from you. Where am I coming from? I am trying to help you dude! In all likelihood, correcting the root cause of this will be easier than continuiously searching for useable 205 Synchrones.

Is the outer tire wear even on the left and right sides or is one worse than the other?

Is the truck modified at all?

Have you checked the rear shocks- are the shocks in good working order?

Have you checked the lower link bushings? Have you checked any of the bushings for excessive play/slop?

Does the truck wander or feel tippy on coasting deceleration?

Have you checked the transfer case- Does the viscous coupling in the transfer case work properly?

What tire pressures are you running and how many tires have been worn this way? I know I have seen you post at least 3 times looking for replacements?

Have you checked for play in the wheel bearings?

Have you had a competent shop with a 4 wheel alignment machine check the truck? These trucks do not need 4 wheel alignments as all you can adjust is the toe on the front axle but you can set the truck up and see if there is positive camber on the rear wheels.

A big thanks! I was thinking the same thing when I saw your location.

Premature tire wear seems to be more exaggerated on PS side and isolated to the rears.

Truck is bone stock with coil conversion.

Have not checked shocks/suspension...but one of my immediate observations was a possible listing in PS rear. Could just be my imagination. Wouldn't worn/blown shocks result in more of a flat spotting or extreme cupping?

Have not checked any bushings closely or checked for slop or play but under quick glance-a good chance that some of them have seen better days.

No wandering or tippyness

T-case functioning properly and has never shown signs of failure

I've been running higher psi since I have found that to slow the wear.

I'm on my 3d tire in less than 2 yrs. DS gets the used tires from the PS before completely bald...but wears them prematurely as well.

Have not done a 4W alignment to check for + toe. (I may start with this)

Thanks-maybe I can ride down to your shop.

there are a lot of variables here but this is good info

What tire pressures were you running before? And now?

How many miles are we talking about in less than 2 years?

I dont suppose you could get pics of the tire tread?

I was running what is listed in the door jam...42 I think. Then I thought, more air pres. to even out wear and get more contact in the middle-just plain thinking I guess. I have been running close to or right at 50. Like I said...it seemed to get more life. But this last one..brand new (was a spare) has less than 35K on it. Wear is even...no cupping, but definitely worn. I don't have a tire tread gauge but just base on the outer shoulder, on another tire it would be right at or past the wear bar. The DS is the same exact way.
