Mixing 2" lift springs on D1?

Hey all,

I have a set of front OME 761's springs that I planned on using on my D1 along with a pair of TF 2" Medium rear springs.

I've been reading that the TF springs provide a bit more lift than the OME ones.
I constantly have a ton of shit kept in the back of the rover, i.e. CO2, tools, hi-lift, etc. Also have an XD SD rack and a TR front bumper with a MM 8k winch with synth line.

Should I buy the 2" TF Mediums or just keep the lift all OME?

I plan on running 235/85's once lifted.

Thanks!

Thanks.
The issue is that I can get a great deal on used TF medium rear springs with TF shocks.

Do the OME springs provide enough lift to clear 235/85's or 265/75r16's if I pick up the OME 764 rear springs?

I guess I'll have to pass on the TF medium springs/shocks deal and just buy a pair of new OME 764's and whatever shocks.

235/70-16: Stock tire size.

205/80-16: Stock size in many other countries. same height as 235/70-16.

255/65-16: same height as stock

225/75-16: little taller than stock

245/70-16: little taller and wider than the stock size. reportedly, no need for lift, just minor trimming to fit those tires.

245/75-16: popular size for OME suspension lifted vehicles. require slight trimming on the rear wheel well fender, and may also call for adjustment on the steering bumpstops.

215/85-16: same height as 245/75-16. but narrower. seems to be preferred for the snow and mud.

265/70-16: about as tall as 245/75-16, but wider. will require more trimming and steering bump stops adjustments along with taller bump stops over the rear axle.

265/75-16: almost 32" tall. Same as stock NAS D90 tires. Will require even more trimming.

235/85-16: same height as 265/75-16 but narrower. And seems to be the most popular size with OME lift.

255/85-16: about 33" tall...very few people have fitted this size. Lots of butchering for this one.

285/75-16: about 33" also... but very very wide.

My '96 daily driver has a tired OME spring lift and 235/85/16 tires. I don't flex it much but all it would need is a simple rear Camel Cut if I wanted to.

That's what I was figuring.
I have no problems chopping, especially a simple camel cut.

My stock suspension is pretty much shot at 142k. Original shocks/springs as far as I can tell.

I might as well just drop in new springs out back as well to match the fronts.
Add in some cheap shocks and be done with it.

Thanks all

If anyone wants a deal on the TF medium springs and shocks, I'll forward over the seller contact info. I'm going to pass on his deal.

Yes, they're exactly the same length. Might even be made in the same china shack.

Paint? No idea. They haven't invented rust yet where I live. My TF look pretty (when they're not covered in mud) after a couple years.

Ancient thread. Running 235/85R16 BFG AT KO2.

Considering Nitto Ridge Grappler at 265/85R16. Got's about 2" lift.

What you say?

WTF happened to the instructions on the camel cut, BTW. Seems to be gone.

FWIW I’ve run Nitto tires on two of my trucks for several years and have been very happy with them. TGs for 80/20 pavement for one truck (Tundra) and 90/10 for the other (L322). The RGs remind me of DuraTracs and I would think they’re an excellent AT.

To quote the late Chris Farley " I could take a bug shit in a box and write warranty on it" I bet he would give you a good deal on it too. I would go with Bilstien shocks.

Nitto's are made by Toyo so are good meats. I saw a D1 with a 2" or 3" TerraFirma lift and 265/75-16's Nitto RG's. Met with my approval and looked very manly.

Yeah....it is really tempting If they came in 235/85 I'd do it. I am out of budget for now now and thing they will require more effort than 235... at least for next month.
