we are thinking about re-tenting and I`m looking at MH Trango tents. as the 2 Labs also sleep in the tent, I`m wondering about the room in the 3.1 vs the 4.

anyone have any comments? know they are good tents - just wondered about the roominess in each.

thx.

I have the Trango 3.1. Awesome tent, no cons about it except for weight. Roominess is not a problem for 3 plus some gear, so I think you would be fine with 2 people and 2 dogs. If you want to know anything else about it just let me know.

I don't have the 3.1 or 4, but I have the Trango 2. I can't comment on the larger model, but I can comment on its construction. It's a great tent. I use it on my winter mountaineering trips such as to Mt Shasta, Mt Whitney, and Mt San Gorgonio. It withstands high winds [40-50mph] with no problems and holds up to snow very well. Weight is an issue since I have to carry it on my back. But since you'll be having it in the rover, weight should be the least of your concern.

I know, you can get opt for the MH Satellite or Base Station!!! ;) haha

lol!!! while my wife has to have everything possible with us on the camping excursions, the Base Station would even be a little much for her! :D

thx for the info though. its good to hear they do last.

heard somewhere that mountain hardware was started by bunch of ex- North Face guys... if it's true explains why North Face is not as good as it used to be and Mountain Hardware is bomb proof now...

I carry a Mountain Hardware PCT-1. I've had that damn thing all over the world and it's all I ever needed. The best part is the fact that it seals all the way around, which is good in areas with malaria, and the fine mesh (finer than a mosquito net) keeps the breeze flowing.

If for some reason you need more room, you still can't go wrong with anything M/H makes, but in America, I just sleep in the drivers seat. ;)

Cheers,
