Muffeler and exhaust experiences

Does anyone have a recommendation on replacing the center muffeler with something that makes a bit of sound? Magnaflow center 2.5” inlet dual 2.25 outlet or single? I have a shop willing to run dual exhaust pipes and dual Xflow loop mufflers for looks basically as I don’t intend to be all that louder, just mellow. With dual exhaust pipes, one for each side. Tailpipes are built in and the have a left and a right companion for duals. Thanks in advance.

I’d just get a muffler shop to put a piece of straight pipe in where the center muffler goes. It will change the sound slightly, be cheap, and much less risk of damage off-road.

Change the sound slightly? It’s not the main muffler? I’ve seen the pipe you refer to made up with bracket connectors.

I kept having the center muffler get hung up on rocks and damaged/required repair to stop exhaust leaks. Without it you get slightly more V8 grunt out the back end, but very minimal change while driving in the cabin. It’s still pretty quiet unless you’re really on the throttle. There are two mufflers. One in the center of the vehicle and one at the rear. Maybe the center is referred to as a resonator. I got rid of that and was happy.

I’ll try that I thought bigger wad better, but I’m wrong because I’m having a custom dual exhaust made up with dual loup-through muffeler on the back so I figured I’d have a pretty loud truck floored but otherwise silent.

I had a Borla on my D2 with the rear resonator deleted. I chopped the tip of the exhaust pipe off the resonator and had it re-welded on after the resonator was cut off. Had a very nice deep rumble but no overly loud or droning at highway speeds.

Cut the rear resonator off. If you cut it at the right spot the turndown will dit right over the existing pipe. Always thought it sounded good. If that’s not enough there’s always whistle tips

There is an actual LR part for the TD5 D2 that replaces the muffler with a pipe. I did that and kept the resonator.

I had the magnaflow "kit" on my D1 and really liked it. Nice tone, no drone. My buddy had a cherry bomb on his, sounded pretty bad ass but it was loud.
