All by The Strawbs. I've got the vinyl spinning right now. These guys have created some of the moodiest, hardest hitting, and most transporting music of all time.

By far, The Strawbs are my favorite band ever.

I don't care what sort of music you fancy. These guys will have written something that speaks to you, and once you hear it, you begin to understand everything else they wrote. Their pedigree is as long as any, and they still play today. As a matter of fact, I hear tell of a new album. If it is indeed out, I'll be buying it as soon as I come across it. These fellows have been around for a LONG time. Rick Wakeman used to play with them. In their days they have written more than a few epics, and made heroes of people who long deserved a song, but had never got one until that point.

Incidentally, they can be very relaxing, and I will commonly play their records or something like Enigma in the evenings. Despite their hard edge on occasion, The Strawbs are quite moody, and will calm the mind as you can't help but play out the story in your head as you listen.

Cheers,

Kennith

This is dangerous thread

The link on the Strawbs didn?t have Part of the Union!

So as a result went looking for some more 1970?s political songs

Redgum ?only 19? (including a couple of Photos of an Australian Army Series IIA in Vietnam)

(interesting song: Redgum was a 70?s left wing protest Group?the lyrics of the song are part of the Vietnam memorial at the Australian War Memorial)

Via a couple of hours of obscure Australian stuff of no interest to Americans, a short excursion to The Pogues and back to Australia?s premier lyricist, Paul Kelly performing with Cat Power?Brilliant Stuff!

And half watching the Tour de France live

I?d never thought I?d see another Billy Bragg aficionado on Dweb!

More than 5 songs and you feel the urge to storm the ramparts!

No, can't say that I did. I've been there quite a few times, though.
