my frustration continues...

Yesterday I was about 30 miles from home with my family and my 03 Discovery lost all forward gears?! No warning just a one clunk and it was like the transmission went into neutral? Called Land Rover Roadside and now it sits at the dealership as I wait for a phone call from my service advisor. I did discover that I still had reverse but didn't think driving home in reverse was an option.

My Disco has 10.000 miles on it...I've already got a new engine put in, windshield leaks, rear main seal leak...now this failure with my transmission. YES, my frustration continues and my patience is again tested:(

Anyone experience this failure with the transmission before? What went wrong this time?

sorry, had to vent.

Sounds like a real lemon. I have not had anywhere near that kind of trouble with mine. If you are on your second engine, now prob a new ******, leaking window, have you thought about selling it and getting another?

check the toward the front of the vehicle...if you see a little green oval on the grill, you've found the problem.

look on the bright side, next years model the oval will be more of a blue color, and you'll have to deal with your paint peeling off in sheets also!

honestly, It sounds like the shifter and the transmision are no longer talking to each other via cable, and considering that the forward gears are on one side of neutral and reverse is on the other, it would make sense to lose one and not both. At least this explanation would make sense if the shifter is cable activated.

Lemon Law

Look into the Lemon Law, its the only way to solve your problem. I am in the automotive business. I work for Lexus, the opposite of a Land Rover- Smooth, reliable! Look under the general discussions section and read about my dealings with LR. They just dont care about you. Good luck!

Wow, someone's a little biased

Lets go sell him a lexus SUV while we're at it, so when he goes to ask for a lift they laugh at him.

as far as reliability goes, my I've had no problems. With my friends lexus on the other hand .....

Oh, and a lexus woulda been totaled when the old lady hit my truck.

Sell it back

I would look into selling the truck back, just think about your headaches when your warranty runs out and you have to pay out of pocket for all these things. My 95 has been a true love and hate relationship. I love it when it runs, hate it when it breaks. I like working on it so I guess that's a good thing. But for you a 03 with that few miles should be a lemon. Sell it, hold to your money and buy an 05, at least you'll still have a capable Rover and hopefully it will be a better one.
