LOL, bias much? The Defender has more utility, more powerful engines, matches or bests the Bronco in most key off-road numbers... So I am going to call it for the Bronco because I like the way it looks.

The only area the Defender really bested the Bronco was towing. If towing is a big concern then it's an easy choice. But to me, that goes back to they are two different vehicles. You want to tow your boat to the reservoir, pull a camper to a campsite, take your snowmobile to Yellowstone and maybe do some Overlanding then it would be hard to beat the Defender. When it comes to towing, the Bronco, like the Jeep, would most likely be the towee, not the tower. Being pulled behind an RV. To be used as a source of fun once you reach your destination, not the other way around.

Numbers aside the Bronco is going to have at least 200 addons available from Ford. One would assume bumpers, grill guards, light kits, lift kits, etc. Then there are all the aftermarket manufacturers chomping at the bit to get their hands on the Bronco so they can start producing their own product. You won't see that for the Defender.

However, we don't know enough details. How experienced was the driver? Was the driver intentionally emulating a novice driver who might not air down or use the swaybar disconnects?

Or, if I take this rig back damaged I'll be looking for a new job. I've never been a big fan of the tires sticking out past the fender flares look. But I did notice in the vid the guy says that's why his truck was set up that way, to limit damage to the body.

Yes. At the end of the day, if the car does not look good and is uninspiring it will always lose. She didn’t dwell on the biggest aspect of consumer purchasing, price.

The stats are meaningless. On paper it could be the greatest thing, but a maxed out air inflated suspension to get the stats where they are is like Gregg Valentino having the biggest biceps in the world.

Not to mention that people can likely throw 37s on the Bronco from new and beat those new Defender numbers.

The irony to the luxury Defender's "superior" stats is that they are taken at max air-suspension height, where articulation, capability, and ride quality are their worst. It's useful for getting unstuck, but you have to get stuck first, similar to how traction control only works after you've lost traction. It's gimmicky bullshit invented so they can sell luxury cars that ride nice on the road while pointing to irrelevant off-road stats and tugging at the long lost Series past that hipsters love so much. Welcome to synthetic authenticity.

These are some of the clueless dipshits that are responsible for your Gucci Defender. How many fucking colour and creative specialists do you need to make the automotive equivalent of a wrench?

That's just not true. Those stats are all taken at regular off-road height for an EAS equipped Defender 110. Maximum air suspensions height (which you can get to and invoke only if you get stuck / high centered, e.g. extended and super extended off-road height) would be several inches and degrees above those stats, but such "meaningless" real numbers and capabilities of a stock Defender don't stand a chance compared to showing pre-pandemic British designers in brightly colored shirts and calling them clueless dipshits here, so carry on.

The video with the female narrator says “at full off-road height.” Up for debate as to which mode she means. I don’t care enough to research it because I’ve decided I hate how it looks and looks of a vehicle matter.

I think judging the individuals who helped design it based on their looks and clothing choices is a pretty low blow, though. Except for McGovern himself. Feel free to rag on that choad each and every day.

Yes, off-road height, not extended. Anyways, I get it. You're a fan of the progressive idea that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but you often can. Like McGovern, they have zero experience or interest in any Defender related uses. These people need to be designing luxury goods, not Defenders.

True, but appearances matter to an extent.

I would be suspect if my vascular surgeon looked like one of the Robertson's.

Those people look like they've never ventured out of the home barefoot before.

No worries, my bad for sticking my nose in a thread about Ford, not Land Rover. Full disclosure: I did purchase a new D110 to replace my aging LR4 with 225k miles (which I absolutely love), and prior to that I owned a 2006 RRS with 210k miles (where I first contracted the LR bug, and clearly can't seem to shake it.) I guess my perspective about these vehicles is somewhat different than many of you. I never owned a "classic" Land Rover (although I have admired many on the trail), only a couple of models that were controversial and ridiculed from day 1. Especially the Sport. The vitriol about that car back in 2005, on this and many other enthusiasts forums, makes the new Defender sound like a home run by comparison, lol.
