I bought these for my 96 D1 over the Summer. It’s a straight bolt on. Remember to get new gaskets and any additional studs, nuts etc.

I'll answer my own question: When was the last time you saw an emissions station worker look at the y-pipe or catalytic converters? Never in 15 years.

well i guess that was the whole point of my thread. Are they going to be looking under the truck ?

At the most they will use a mirror and sweep under the vehicle to ensure they see cats there. There's no way they're going to discern if those cats are CARB compliant or not... but time will tell. :)

Thank you all for the help. I have a the Rock Auto one on the way. I suspect I have some coolant leading and I also have a missfire that could have lead to the demise of my cats.

So im going to do the HG, plugs and wires when I do the cats.

I would 100% just use the non approved cats. If you have cats there, they probably aren’t going to care, especially once they get some age and patina. This has been my experience in California.
