New guy with a Leak

First of all thanks to all who take the time to even answer my question
and thanks for letting me join the board.

I have had a 2001 Disco II for about 4 years and have not had any problems until recently.

About about two months ago I walked out after work and there was a huge puddle of coolant under my Disco. I filled my resovoir up and that was the end of it. The weird thing for me is that it started happening again about every two weeks it'd start to leak either in a drip or sometimes just pour out but I can't seem to find the leak. I stopped driving it #1 because of gas prices and #2 to not do more damage.
I did pour some stop leak in to see it that would help and it did but the it started again and it seems only when the temps are higher and I run my air it gets worse.

LR of scottsdale said it could be anything from a hose, to a heater core to intake manifold.

any one have any ideas??

again thanks for any advice and best wishes.:seeya:

disco coolant overflow tanks are notoriously poor quality. they aften separate at the seam. very hard to find unless the thing is actually boiling over spitting out water/coolant.

to be honest i dont know much about the D2 tank. but on my old D1 that was a huge problem.

do a search on on that subject and see if you get any hits that are D2 related.

Welcome to the board. If there are puddles of coolant under the truck, it's probably a hose or radiator. Luckily I haven't run into this problem yet, but if you do a search on here, you will find an incredible amount of information on D2 coolant leaks. I would stay away from the stop leak, too. D2's have very finicky cooling systems, and it doesn't take much to cause serious harm. It's good that you don't have to drive it daily, I would search this board and see if you can find the cause and fix it before you start driving it again regularly. The last thing you want to do is overheat one of these and slip a cylinder sleeve.

Took my D2 in for other work and the mechanic discovered coolant leaks which turned out to be a radiator in need of an overhaul, much cheaper to rehab than replace.

I think the radiator is a fairly common problem. I've been keeping an eye on mine as it's probably nearing the stages of failure.

Hey I did the search and I found many threads that realte to my issue like the valley pan, or throttle body.
I am mechanically challenged or lazy one of the two so I am brigining into a local mechanic that does this kind of stuff. I actually just got off the phone with him and he suspected the same thing.
I hope so I miss Larry.:(

well you guys can pick on me because I am mechanically challenged and i have a major coolant leak i noticed today.

It was literally pouring out of the bottom of the car. Unfortunatly I didnt get to look where it was coming from.

Glad I could be here to keep this thread new and alive.

I had the same problem on my 2k D2 and found I had a bad radiator.
