I had these made a while back. They are unbranded, but I worked with the factory to actually get them improved and putting out the power that was claimed.

These are made on the same line as:

1: ARB
2: Viair
3: Masterflow
4: Superflow
5: Almost every other 12V compressor on the planet under $600.

They feature twin cylinders, a crank I had them adjust and maker out of better material, better (and genuine) Teflon seals, better lubrication, and a number of other incidental improvements.

The accessories kind of suck, because that wasn't the point of the test shipment. It's the same stuff you'll see on other units, and the bag is just as flimsy. You'll probably break the zippers in a week, but it does actually hold everything. They all work well, they're just obviously cheap stuff off the rack.

Since I never was able to finish up the project, I didn't specify industrial fittings. I was halfway through designing a new part when I had to go somewhere. As such, they use Nitto fittings. Be aware of that. Unless you adapt a hose, you're not going to just plug these into a tank. The fittings are just as good, they're just not American standard.

That said, these are fine for air tanks, but you'll need to do your plumbing and make sure it's regulated and relieved. These things have some juice behind them.

It's not an Oasis, and it's not a Powertank, but it's a $200 compressor (once I smoothed them out a bit more) with no branding for $20. You've seen the parts before, but this time they do what's printed on the box; for a given value of box.

So, how well do they work? I use them all the time. They're fast, quiet, and cool. That's the real reason I wanted two pistons; temperature in hot weather. That's pretty much all there is to say.

I have seven currently, and I may offer them for sale elsewhere in a week or so. You're not going to do any better for sixty bucks and shipping. The pictured unit is the one I use most often, and one I left outside, kicked around, and generally abused a bit just to make sure it was solid. Another was disassembled and the parts were destructively tested.

Chinese wiring, but aside from a thicker gauge I didn't get around to improving their connections too much. Six were tested throughly, with no failures.

Will yours fail? Probably not, but if it does, it'll be a connection that's easy to reach.

Cheers,

Kennith

For the record, I actually like those screw-on valves more than the cam-action units. They actually seal every time.

Oops. I used the price I was going to list them elsewhere. I'm not going to charge you $60 for these. Discoweb gets them for $20 plus shipping costs.

At this price, you've really not much of an excuse to avoid having a spare pump/compressor laying around.

Cheers,

I always have to bum a friend’s ARB compressor so maybe this would do me some good. What is the claimed power/output on these?

150PSI and 150LPM without a load. Obviously, it's dynamic as a tire fills like anything else, but they're pretty quick and you're not going to overheat them.

That's actually a problem with large tires and 12V compressors. By that third corner on big meats, they're usually bordering on their thermal limits; if not exceeding them entirely. Two cylinders helps alleviate some of the reduction in output as pressure increases, and also helps mitigate thermal issues.

So far as quality goes, these come off the same production line as the ARB units.

I genuinely do use mine all the time. I love my power tank, but whatever is nearby is what is used, because nobody fills Co2 around here aside from some idiots at a Pawn shop that carries paintball gear who can't read the dials. Every damned time they come out, it's: "I think it's full this time"...

Whatever. At least I don't have to drive to Raleigh.

...and yes, you can pop that plate off the bottom and bolt these to your vehicle, if you like. (y)

Now, because at least one person here is curious, these cost around $100 a piece to have made, once shipping of the test units is accounted for. So, it's not some kind of five dollar junk marked up. LOL

PMs out.

For now, let's assume I've run out of compressors. Let me get this round completed and make sure everyone is still cool with a purchase.

Shipping costs were higher than I expected.

If you're interested and haven't contacted yet, post here and hold the phone a bit to be sure I've got one left for you. I'll post when I've got the current requests covered.

Cheers,

Kennith

  1. Why do you have a C-stand in that room?
  2. I'm interested in one of your $20 compressors.

1: Nice catch! (y)

It's for voice-over stuff. One stand can hold the recorder, microphone, tablet, and whatever pop filter or other stuff I need. It's seconds to swap out everything for different purposes. I came to like them working as a grip a while back. They're certainly more useful than any microphone stand, and much easier to haul around.

2: I'm working down the list as people evaluate shipping charges and decide what they want to do. I'll let you know when I do.

Cheers,

Kennith

Speaking of Sonex...
I was recently in a facility that manufactures satellites.
They have a testing room, where they bombard the antennas with signals all over the RF spectrum.
A BIG steel box (100+ feet in all dimensions) with sonex type material on every interior surface.
The foam was about 4 feet thick, from wall to point.
I was not inside the capsule, just saw it with the massive door (50+ feet high) open, but that was probably the most non-echoic chamber of all time.

My love for c-stands comes from doing TV work back in the 80s.
I could put a little Pepper light (focusable 100-watt instrument with barn doors) out on the end, and add some spectral highlights to the background of a shot in no time at all.
Put the arm horizontal & attach a mini-blind to it, then hit that with a gelled RedHead, and I had the shadow pattern of sun coming through a blind.
Shooting interviews in people's houses was always a challenge to find different circuits to power the 1K lights; unplugging the fridge would pretty much always get you a circuit with nothing else on it. So I didn't forget to plug their fridge back in, I'd put my car keys in the freezer.. :)
