I have a 98 disco 1. A shop is telling me to rustproof the car they would inject noxudol into the frame and coat the undercarriage. Anyone used this product? Thanks.

Don't forget you've got 21 years of dust, oils, mud, a fuck-ton of salt residue, and other detritus inside that frame.

Many products will react well with rust, but not with the other crap covering it up and trapping moisture, and cleaning that shit out ain't easy.

Just consider the interior condition before you go paying someone to coat dirt and salt instead of metal.

Cheers,

Kennith

I steam cleaned and wanded my gwagen and d2. Could not find a shop local so I did it my self.

Message Garrett porterfield, if he’s not at an orgy he should respond. He is middleburg, easy drive on 66. I think there is a shop he knows that does the stem cleaning and wax coating. It is not a one and done treatment. Needs done every year or so. Don’t use the waxoil aerosol stuff...it’s sticky and makes a mess on concrete, asphalt, etc.

Up in Canada you can get it done every year at Canadian tire!

It's the suspension design, along with the frame shape. Everything collects there because it backs up against the suspension and, without drain holes, rots it out.

Esp. the rear 1/4 of the D2 frame. I don't think D2 frames were treated with much of anything. Thanks Ford. Wankers, the lot'a yuh.
I never met an English car that wasn't a rust magnet. Don't blame Ford. Rovers have a rich tradition of rusting to pieces. That's why you can buy entire chassis for them.

Can they steam clean it first or have it done beforehand?
Looks like the product is similar to Waxoyl.
I have a 94 RRC that I had a shop use Waxoyl. But, they don't do the undercarriage anymore as they are not a body shop and it was too "toxic". The truck was a 25 year texan resident so maybe some surface rust. The shop said they will steam and clean then spray. I just want to be able to drive it in the snow and salt which I avoided last year.. the shop is APS in Fairfax.

LR had to buy out their frame supplier that was going bust sometime around 2001. D1 and RRC bodies rust to pieces but their frames are pretty resilient.

Getting ready to do the interior of my D1 with a product we use on industrial jobs. It's the best stuff I've seen for coating over rust and preventing further corrosion. Since I have plenty of time with the quarantine I'll post pics.
