A scanner that I have used before and two others that I tried will not connect to truck. I set off check engine light when my fuel pump went out and now it idles high which I am not sure of either.

Is there any way to reset this without taking it to LR dealership?

Have you used it on a Discovery before? In 97 there were 3 different OBD2 serial protocols, some of the cheaper and older scan tools do not support all of them.

Also check to make sure its plugged all the way in. The mount for the plug is crap, it is easily pushed out. On my 96 I had to pull the harness out from the kick panel to get it to snap in to the reader.

Check the fuses.
The OBD port is powered through the ABS fuse. (#12?, #13?, #14?)

I think you may be on to something. I pulled my abs fuse trying to get the light to shut off. I will check that tonight.

Had this exact problem on my 04 when I first plugged in my scanner too.
