I have a 1999 Disco I and once in a while the check engine light comes on. I checked the codes with an ODBII reader and it is a 1448 code. Something to do with the evap purge valve flow. Anyone know what needs to be done to fix this? It comes and goes so it is not permanately broken but I don't like to see that light every month or so.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I feel your pain. I wrestled with the same fault on my 96 disco for months. The P1448 fault indicates a leak in the evaps system. Check all of the vacum lines that go to and from the purge canister and valve. look for cracks and the like. My fault occured shortly after I replaced one of the bank #2 O2sensors. It would come and go and I would occasionally get a fault stating that the cats were out of range. I finally reomeved the O2 sensor that I installed months earlier and swapped it with teh other side. The sensor I put in unscrew rather easily and I found waht looked like a washer from the old sensor on top of the port for the sensor. Any way I am on week 2 of no faults of any kind. This was my experience and maybe it can help you also.

Good Luck

Odbii 1448

Thanks Brad for the info. Mine will go away for a month and then come back usually after a run on the freeway and then coming into a town and slowing to a stop. I figured it might be a a bad hose but haven't seen one yet. I will look closer tomorrow.
Thanks again for the help.
best regards; Jim

OBD Code P1448

I had the same problem on my 97 Disco. On mine, the purge valve was part of the charcoal canister. I replaced the canister (easy to do yourself) and OBD Code P1448 has yet to reapppear.

I was about to get the new purge valve and conister, but it seams to be fine for now. How much did you pay for hte canister & valve? I was quote about $140 from the dealer & Rovers North
