Oil Pressure Question

I've got a 1998 Discovery, 197k.
Previous owner ran it over the oil change by about 3k on 10w30 oil. Express oil change did the last change on it and used whatever their basic filters are(white).
When I got the car (recently) I changed it with 15w40 and a Mobil1 Filter, before the change I ran some seafoam through the oil.

I had the oil lite come on while stopped at a redlight the other day. Got it home and tossed a gauge on it (using the oil filter sandwich plate from Glowshift)

I am getting
42psi at cold idle, and 42psi at 2000rpm with the engine temps below 140.
13psi at hot idle, and 30psi at 2000rpm with the engine temps ranging from 188-200.
It stays consistent and does not drop pressure whenever idle or 2k.

Signs of a bad oil pump? I haven't Pulled the pan off to check anything else out, I spoke with a shop yesterday and they said it sounds like the Oil pump gears cracked and that I'm losing pressure.

I have all of the records for this truck, there is nothing stating the gears have ever been replaced.

If it is the gears, how difficult is that job? I have the mechanical ability and the Rave manual to tackle it.

Logan, I can't comment as to whether or not it is your oil pump but I can comment as to it's difficulty. It's not bad at all. Replace the chain while you are in there and follow the manual instructions. You can do this in a day or a weekend and it will give you piece of mind. Depending on when it was done an oil pump and oil sensor may be called for as well.

Ambient was a consistent 65? during both hot and cold test.
I thought they seemed okay, but so far 3/3 shops have said it they sound cracked from those results.

WRLDKY: Thanks, I am really tempted to DIY it since the quotes I am getting are for 1000-1500$.
I emailed Atlantic British and asked if there was a kit I could buy vs just the single parts.

Oil pressures at cold idle and 2k rpm could be the same due to the pressure relief valve. The pressure values don't look bad at all.
I'd replace the oil pressure sensor to start with.

do you mean replace the pressure relief valve?

Nope, just that pressure relief valve limits the oil pressure to 42psi - and this is fine.

Is this true across all Rover V8's.... specifically my 3.5? When cold I have idle around 40psi but when driving I've seen it close to 60psi if I have to accelerate hard. Just the other day my mechanic doing my yearly inspection said the PRV didn't kick in until around 70psi. Hot oil readings are good.
