I would guess a good machine shop would have a few tricks to deal with situations like that. Definitely worth it to have them make sure you have a good unit supporting your rebuild.
Thanks - will include it with the other stuff. I don't see any problems - and the gears look good - but I plan to replace them along with the chain in any case - "while I'm in there"...
Use it (5-40) in my 2004 Audi A4 Avant. Made a huge difference in the engine smoothness. Very bizarre green color though when pouring it in. Sticking with Rotella 15-40 for the D1.
Been using that green stuff also. It's an ultraviolet dye for chasing down leaks.
Seems to be a good weight oil for high milage engines that originally ran 5w-30.
My old D2 always ran Rotella 15w-40 and almost had 300k when it overheated for the last time. Oil pump was original and never a oil light ever after start up.

Ah, I actually use the Liqui Moly with the MoS2 additive. It’s an eerie shade of gray out of the bottle. The additive is suppose to help with maintaining oil film on surfaces, as well as having additional friction reduction characteristics. It SIGNIFICANTLY quieted the engine, after the switch.
