I love my Disco and enjoy working on Rovers sometimes for a little extra money but I havent jumped into the Freelanders yet. There are few in the area with engine trouble sometimes for less than a grand. Are they worth the effort.I met a guy that worked at a dealership that went to a training seminar when they first came out and said they where very capable with a tough rigid chasis. What about part availibility? Any thoughts?

Review the amount of threads here versus the other sections and it'll give you a good idea of where Freelanders stand around here.

The Euro diesels are fine; the NAS gas trucks are crap, on the whole.

Not that bad. Front pads/calipers did those in 1hr. Very simple with bleeding. Every chance I get Im hitting the trails. It has its limits but does fairly well. So cheap right now. Look on e-bay they have alot of high milage ones.

There was probably at least one Jew who said, 'Hitler's not really that bad. Killed 10k of those in 1hr. Very simple with bleeding.'

Freelanders are GREAT! Buy one that has crapped out for like, $800. Then tow it to the rover dealer and say, "Oh it crapped out!" and try to convince them to buy it back at market value.

Profit.

But yeah, you actually want to drive one? Might be a bad idea. That is how bad these trucks are, LRNA is buying them back and crushing them (or so I've heard).

lrna is not buying them back...

dealers are scrapping them after people tow them in and leave them after they are told how much it costs to repair them...

they are not only the worst land rover ever made, they are the worst car ever made by anyone short of the pinto, and even then, a pinto at least will drive before it blows up....

Wow Ive said that they are the worst cars ever made by anyone for years. Land Rover should have to crush a freeloader for every new Rover they bring into the states. I was at the launch of this thing and they were so proud of it.

I heard from a LR mechanic that parts are nearly impossible to come by (engine parts that still work, that is) as the motor was from the Rover passenger cars and they stopped producing them shortly thereafter... probably why there are so many of them out there for so little money these days.
