I ran 315/75/16's on stock D1 alloy wheels with zero problems.

You're in CO right? Were you regeared? Pics? I was shooting for Skinny 35s going into the front range all of the time but have considered the standard wide 35s like you were running since pizza cutters are pretty much just military these days 9.0x16, etc.

I just got some 245 75 16 Hercules Terra Trac T/G Max last week.

Thus far is an amazing tire. Looks great, Surprisingly quiet and well mannered on the road. Haven't had a chance offroad yet. Locally I have heard alot of good things. We will see.

I just got some 245 75 16 Hercules Terra Trac T/G Max last week.
I bought a set of Hercules all-terrain tires six years ago. They were very round (far better than BFG tires of late), quiet, and despite a very docile tread had very decent traction. In about 25kmi they wore off about 3/16" of rubber - better than average on a Rover.

If you want Coopers, get them from Tirecrawler.com I paid $777 for 4 35x12.50-15 STT pros shipped to my door. I ordered them Friday morning, Sat afternoon they got delivered!
They had a promotion going on plus free shipping.

They are only $3 cheaper on tire crawler. My total will be about $1555 out the door not including a $100 rebate visa or whatever card back from Cooper. Going on tomorrow.

I'd love to try a set of XZLs but I don't really want to dick around trying to buy someone's used tires and get them shipped to me then mounted, balanced, etc.

BFG can pretty much kiss my ass, at this point. They deserve to be avoided and lumped in with retreads and Chinese knock-offs.

Scratch that. I'd rather have a Chinese knock-off. They'll do a better job and charge less.

BFG products always have a problem. Roll the dice once every six months or so to see what that problem will be. They can't just make a damned tire. Even the BFGs on the Impala are suffering premature aging, and they're the newest tires I own.

If I entered a race and found out only their products were allowed, I'd go the fuck home.

Cheers,

Kennith

I’ve run 255/85 Maxxis Big Horns on two D2s and loved them. They’ve done me equally well in Uwharrie mud and Maine snow/ice. Interestingly, both trucks had stock gearing, and while the ‘00 was a pig, as Stu mentioned, my current ‘99 feels just fine. Maybe the ‘99 was assembled after Nigel had his tea, who knows.

I had a set of 235 85 16s on a 92 cummins dually some years ago. At the time very cheap and had no problems, lasted a long time. The terra trac line is a relatively new offering, so hopefully the good points will continue. I wasn't thrilled going with bfg either.

Oh, hell. Don't do that to me. I thought you were talking about someone importing new tires. :ROFLMAO:

Cheers,

Kennith
There are importers of new tires! I quoted an eBay search just for the kicks, but here and on NAS-ROW you can find group buys and individual sales.
Last price I saw for a brand new 8.25-16 XZL was about 250 a pop.

Not in Colorado, but regeared with Ashcroft 4.12's.

If you see that deal again give me a holler. I’ll buy 5 and stash them just to try them out someday.

@Jeff Blake I have been looking at 9.0X16 which come out to almost 36 tall and 10 inches wide if you like Pizza cutters. Only able to find them in bias ply though.

I have a set of BFG KM2's 255/85/17 on my Tacoma. They have 45k-ish miles on them and have been rock solid. Other than being loud about 10k miles ago before a rotation, and having broken belts in them now, they're still great tires.

If I was to go with another set of MT's on a daily driver, I'd get them...oh wait, I did.

I've got a set of 37x12.50 R18's on my Cummins...Just did a 5200mile round trip to King of the Hammers in February. Great roadtrip tire if you're going to play in the dirt a little along the way.

I’m sitting in Twin Peaks drinking beer and watching my tires being installed at Discount across the parking lot. So far they look to be round and black, just like a few of the waitresses. I’ll report more later.
