Make sure the coolant sensor connector and the fuel rail temp sensor connectors are on the right sensors . They sit side by side and you can switch them . But also the pressure regulator could be leaking into the vac. tube like you guys were talking about .

For the sake of reference, you don't have to unhook the fuel pump to cut the fuel for start-up. You can just floor the accelerator and that will cut the fuel temporarily if it's flooding. I do it all the time because my floods on hot startup for some reason. I think i have a wiring problem and am planning to replace the loom.

While it's an old thread, I am dropping a couple things in here related to it. I have the same problem with our 1995 pre-GEMS NAS Disco.

I've been fighting unending fuel system skirmishes with this thing [fuel lines, pump, filter, regulator, relays, ad infinitem].

Right when it looks like I beat back the hord...it blows the 15 amp fuse in the under-hood panel. Okay.. ha ha, you got me, Lucas.. but now it appears to actually be FLOODING a cylinder with fuel. Like an injector is actually stuck open. This is bizarre as hell... I have never had an injector still open like this. I have seen references to leaky injectors but this normally refers to the O-ring leaking, not the actual valve stuck open.

In any case, I can attest to the ability of the Rimmer Bros stainless Y-pipe (with cats) to glow like a cherry.. oh, and their stainless muffler as well. If it's not obvious, I killed the engine once that "Oh Sh!te, something is REALLY hot!" aroma was detected.

Has anyone actually experienced a stuck injector like this? I now changing the injectors out.

Also, bonus question: Does anyone know if there are any "latest greatest injectors" tech out there? Some that maybe spray in a mist instead of a jet? Perhaps some that can help to beat my 13mpg [downhill] efficiency record?

You can get an injector pigtail and test each one to hear it click to verify if one is stuck. Pic below.

I’ve read many good comments about these injectors…

usually when an injector is stuck open it's a pinched wire. The injector gets battery voltage any time the key is on. the other wire gets grounded to open the injector. but if it's doing this with the connector unplugged then it must be mechanically stuck open.
