P0101 and only P0101

So, I'm getting a P0101 and no other codes stored or pending. 04 D2 130K, ACR Top Hat motor...

If I clear it, might go away for a few drives but then back.
My scantool shows data from the MAF while I'm driving and the graph goes up and down with the acceleration and speed etc.
No surging or roughness. Seems to have full power.
When idling, if I pull the MAF plug the idle drops and ALMOST seems like it might stall but doesn't.
If unplugged and repluged the MAF a dozen times to hopefully clean the contacts and am today going to buy a cleaning kit to get into the smaller connectors.

I guess I just wanted a forum double check before I spend $200 on a non returnable sensor.

Check the plastic oil separator inside the hose going into the PS valve cover. It may be plugged or damaged.

Today I got a P1174.
Possible solution... Turns out that the guy that did my valve cover gaskets who I asked to do the PCV valve accidentally or mistakenly installed a regular brass connector, not any kind of valve.
Codes are cleared and fingers crossed it's that simple.

I put maybe 20-30 miles on the D2 and so far so good. Two lessons learned. If you pull the oil separator your going to get P0101 and maybe a P1174. If you want something done right, do it yourself.

That was an easy fix and luckily you didn’t waste a lot of time looking at 25 other things first!
