Got this code abut 2-250 miles after dropping the fuel tank to change out the fuel pump cover. Now the last two fill ups, the gas pump auto shut off is triggered after a couple seconds and I get fuel leaking from the top of the filler neck when I try to get some fuel in there. I can hear the "whoooosh" of the evap system through the filler sometimes. What should I be trying first, DMTL pump or the purge valve? Seems like one or the other may be stuck open. Is there a quick and dirty way to test one or the other without a GAP tool? I just have a basic OBDII reader, I think it'll do live data but have never needed to.

my LR4 ended up needing the charcoal canister replaced.. DMTL helped for a while... I fought this for several months... but all clear now..
thanks. I figured if either was bad enough, it could be forcing fuel into and soaking the canister. I had issues with my Chevy doing the same thing.
Just an update to this one. I finally replaced the DMTL and purge valve on Friday. Blew almost half a quart of fuel out of the charcoal canister. Cleared the codes, drove to the store, got a P0441 for incorrect purge flow. Didn't clear it. Drove almost 100 miles over the weekend, CEL went away yesterday evening. Haven't had to put fuel in yet, but if it still gives me issues the charcoal canister is probably saturated and no bueno.
