Something is invalid from the engine ECU. Shows up from time to time, usually clears. There was a bulletin years ago on ZF transmission troubleshooting. Chris?

Nope, I was wrong... it's a Ford Manufacturer specific code for "Engine Coolant Loevel Lamp Circuit Short to Ground"

You are correct! FORD calls a 1884 that, but not Land Rover.
P0XXX codes are the same regardless of manufacture.... They are required to be by law.

P1XXX codes can be anything the manufacture wants it to be.... What Ford calls it, isn't the same as what GM, Rover or whoever.

Rovers calls this one a CAN communication failure. This one is kind of involved. DO you have other codes?

There was another code, a P0102 or P0202 (the guy at Autozone was being a TOOL !) He said P0202, I could have sworn it displayed P0102. When I asked him to scan it again he said I wasn't the only customer and he has other things to do, and who am I to question what he read bla, bla., bla.
I was not interested in getting upset before the holidays, so I said HO, HO, HO, and went on my merry way. I am waiting for my scaner to arrive in the mail so that I can double check the second code.

Chris I am no longer a cheap bastard :)

My scanner has arrived :)

So I was correct, P1884 is the first and P0102 is the second.

The only thing I am noticing while driving is occasional hesitation when starting off from a stand still, like a red light or stop sign.

My DII is doing same thing after bad fillup in Naperville.
Same code but misfire on #8 makes me think injector clog.

Resurrecting an old thread.

Anybody have any updated info about this code? Two days ago I went to start my truck after it hadn't been run in a few days. I cranked it, and it fired, choked and died. Turned the key again, fired normally, but CEL is on. I drove it to work and back, no issues. I just bought a ScanGaugeII, read the codes, and it showed P1884 and P0000.

The P0000 appears to be a thing with the code reader, and it actually cleared itself and doesn't show anymore.

Anyway, from what I've read here, P1884 seems to be a weird thing, I'm assuming I'll just clear it and move on?

I should have known that was too easy. I didn't clear the code, went out and fired it up, and now I've got P0102. P1884 is gone. :(

Ok, just played around a little more. I can clear the code while running, and drive around town, and it won't come back on. If I clear it, then fire up the truck, the CEL comes on immediately. So I'm guessing it's seeing a problem on a check routine before it fires.

I think maybe there's an issue with the Scangauge, I'm not sure. Sometimes when I scan the codes, I get P1884. Sometimes I get P0102 and P0000. I'm assuming the P0102 is the real deal and the P1884 is a scanner issue.

I need to figure out now if this is a real problem or not. I have no drivability issues. If it makes any difference, the filter is reasonably fresh, I do have a snorkel, I've never had a K&N.

I would guess from the P0102 code, that when the engine is off, it's expecting to see a voltage that is supposed to equate to zero flow, and it's not seeing it.

Is it safe to drive like this? I have a few hundred mile trip coming up this weekend.

Testbook has some more details:

There are two types of MAF sensor diagnostic check:
l The MAF sensor signal is less than the minimum threshold for specific speed range ? the engine must have
exceeded 200 rev/min for longer than 300 ms and remain above 400 rev/min. The signal must be less than the
threshold mapped against engine speed for longer than 500 ms.
l The MAF sensor signal is greater than the maximum threshold for specific speed range ? the engine must have
exceeded 200 rev/min for longer than 10 ms. The signal must be greater than the threshold mapped against
engine speed for longer than 300 ms.
P0102 Mass or volume air flow low input MAF signal < minimum threshold, which is speed
dependent
Has anybody ever attempted MAF diagnostics? Seems it's a wheastone bridge circuit as others, wonder if it's an sensor problem or wiring.

I guess this could now be moved under a P0102 thread.
