Problem to check for...

Just found a problem on my 03 Discovery that I thought I would share with all of you.
Under the fuse box in the engine compartment, there is a sharp edge on a piece on sheet metal. That edge cut through the insulation on some of the wiring, causing intermittent shorting. I found it while changing my coolant, got some water under the fuse box, and heard a sizzling sound.
I fixed the wires, wrapped the wire a lot of tape, filled down the sharp edge, and covered it with a few layers of duct tape.
I don't know what problems this was causing, I have had some occasional electrical glitches.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I see the sharp edge you're talking about, they appear to have fixed the problem on the 2004 by routing the wiring farther away from it but it would still be a good idea to grind it down or put a rubber strip on it.

I have been having the 4 amigos problem lately, and some other erratic break behavior. I am hoping this may help get rid of it. Have not seen the problem in the last week since I repaired the wires. Time will tell if the problems are gone.

The wire repair did not fix my 4 amigos problem, it just happened again. I think I just need to change my pads and rotors, they have been squeaky lately. I may have just cleared the stored codes when I disconnected the battery for the wire repair.:ack:
