Is anyone here running the QT front diff guard on a DII? If so, have you had any issues with your tie rod banging on it? I think that this may be the cause of a mysterious clunk that I have been trying to track down.

Yes and yes

Small clunk as I pass the straight ahead

Might have to do something about it (what I dont know) as I want sumo bars and they are a LOT thicker

Good... well, not good, but I am glad to not be alone. Mine happens when my wheels are pointed straight ahead, and something causes the front tire to move front to back a little bit. Usually hard breaking or a rocky trail will cause it to bang. Does this mean that I have too much play in my front wheel, or that I need to do something with the guard?

What could be loose that could cause the front tire to move horizontally enough for the tie rod to bang the diff guard? Is this just normal play and I just need to suck it up and ignore the bang? It doesn't seem to actually damage anything, but it seems to be getting more frequent.

After reading this thread I took a look at mine. Granted I only have a few thousand miles on the truck with the front QT diff guard, but I have no signs of rubbing between the guard and tie rod.

FWIW,
