quick coil pack / wires question DII

If I remove the manifold to reach the coil packs better, do I absolutely have to put a new gasket in?

Could I run the car for about a week while I wait on a new gasket and then replace it then?

I have a cylinder #5 and #7 misfire. Going to try to change just the plugs first but may have to go all the way to changing the coil packs and wires (8mm magancore) as well. I have all parts on hand except for the gasket.

Thanks in advance,
Michael

I reuse the metal gasket and smear on a bit of hylomar to be sure it seals. Pulling the upper manifold is a no brainer for working on this engine.

I pulled it and it made it so much easier, especially since my truck has SAI. Replaced the coil packs, wires with 8mm magnacore, and new champion plugs. Gotta put it back together tomorrow. I put about 4 hours into it today. probably another 1-1.5 hours to reassemble tomorrow. definitely a 5 hour job is you haven't done it before. Could probably do it in 3 next time, maybe a little less.

as long as you don't bend or damage the gasket, you sure as hell can re-use it. i've had good luck so far with them. also, you may want to wire up the coils before you bolt them back on. that way you know the routing is right because it's not a job you want to do twice. good luck!
