Random no start (not when at temp)

My 2004 D2 has been acting up again. This time it's a completely random "no start". It only seems to happen when the engine is cold.

The engine will crank but not fire.

I've had the CKP replaced twice. And the fuel pump replaced about 18 months ago. I replaced the fuel pump relay also.

I'm afraid to drive it too often because I can't afford to get stranded. My current job has be doing a weekly commute of 3 hours each way (plus daily short commutes to the office).

Here's an example....went to leave for work last Sunday night. Cranked but nothing. Piled all my shit into my beater D2 and headed out for the week. Got back to town on Friday night. Went out Saturday morning and it fired up immediately. I did nothing to the truck during the course of the week (except just let it sit in the driveway)

Did you try replacing ignition leads?
Could just be bad spark due to damp
Try getting someone to crank it over while you have the hood open and its dark to see if there is leakage on the leads (and or look for white deposits on te insulation).

Update...more questions

So after a few more times of start/no start. I took a few minutes to diagnois further (to the best of my shade tree mechanic knowledge).

I have spark (at least according to my spark plug tester). So I'm feeling fairly confident that it's not the CKP.

Next on the list was fuel pressure. No pressure at the rail. Pulled the rear carpet and no pressure out of the pump.

So is there a way to diagnois the pump? I'm absolutely horrible with electrical. I've never been able to understand the black art of testing.

Thanks!!!

You need to measure the voltage at the pump when your cranking the engine. I don't have a schematic in front of me but it's going to be the 2 larger diameter wires. If you have 12 volts and ground at the connector and the pumps not running you need a pump.

If you need a pump don't freak out about the 700 plus price tag. Do this.

Only getting 5v to the fuel pump. I "jump" the fuel pump with a battery pack and it spit fuel.

Looks like an electrical gremlin. What's the next step?
