Hey All,

When I was changing my fuel pipe I lifted my boot carpet and noticed quite a bit of rust (See images below) !! I have decided to replace it. Is there a reason why I couldn't use a flat piece of 1 or 1.2 mm sheet steel for the floor rather than buying a replacement floor section? Its just I might be able to get the sheet steel free!!

Thanks!!

A flat sheet of metal may not have the same bending stiffness as the original panel. If I were to use a flat sheet, I'd consider adding a few stiffeners along the bottom of it.

The original part with the formed shapes add structural stiffness. You won't be happy with a flat sheet, free or not. You will, instead, be sad.

take your sheet steel and get it corrugated.. it's required from structural strength.. yes.. a flat sheet will bend ..
