Don't do this often but in this case I think some here might find this useful.

I just bought a 2023 Tacoma and one of the mods I did was to convert the reverse lights to led. Looking around I came upon Velds. They are a little more pricey than most other options I found but in this case you get what you pay for and they are very much worth the extra coin.

I've been a fan of the plug and play bulbs from SuperBrightLEDs but this is another level entirely.

Noticed this on their retrofit bulb solution: "WARNING! This bulb was designed for momentary (10 minutes or less) applications only. Using this bulb in a constant on application will void your warranty."

They're probably dealing with some heat issues with such high lumens in a incandescent-replacement form factor.

I'm a SuperBrights repeat customer as well. Interior lights replaced with LEDs makes such a difference. I'm about to get some flush-mount Rigid reverse lights for my rear bumper. Amping up the stock lights would save some $$$.

I looked at their low beam replacement. They use a mini fan to dissipate heat. One would assume these lack that as reverse lights aren't meant to be a continuous use application.

About 10 years ago I was in a startup that did LED lighting for buildings and outdoors; we sold to a lot of commercial/industrial clients. I remember seeing some fans on products. I didn't realize that was still a thing. It's only going to help as much as you have the ability to exhaust hot air and pull in cool air though. If you're in a sealed container the fan effectiveness goes down a lot. Just like how fans help in a computer as long as you have good ventilation.

With lower items like fog lights I'd also be concerned with mud and detritus blocking up the fan. Wonder if that happens.

To be clear the fogs don't have the mini fan, that's why they say not to run them for long intervals. That was a typo, sorry. Their Hi/lO beams have the fan, which would be in the base of the bulb on the outside of the lens.

That's total bullshit. Makes your fogs about worthless but at least they'll look cool when you can use them.

Yeah that doesn't sound right. I must have misread something. The thing is I just don't fucking care right now. The reverse lights are more than adequate for my needs and I also bought some of their interior light and they made a huge difference also. Like I can actually see what I'm doing in my cab after dark now. If I decide to try the LED fogs I'll post back here. Right now I have bigger fish to fry (lift. tires, bumper....).
