The Lou!
Been a while since I've posted as I haven't had much time work on the truck and we've had a ton of rain this fall. Today is awesome so I'm at it again. :)

The last time I rebuilt my Rochester due to sitting for many months rotting the gaskets, the truck ran like absolute hell after putting it back on. I'm going to assume something wasn't quite right with the carb because it ran fine before that.

On the bottom of the throttle body, there a few tiny tiny holes for vacuum. I've read that you need to stack gaskets to make sure these holes aren't blocked, but maybe I didn't do it right. So that is what I'm wanting help with, to ensure I've got that part set up correctly to rule out any issues with vacuum.

My manifold has the thick phenolic block on top of it. I've also got a few thick base gaskets that I can use. Am I supposed to fit the gaskets and cut a hole out where the vacuum holes are so that there is a small gap between the holes and the phenolic block after the carb is mountec?

Also, what are you guys using as your float setting? I want to triple check that before I put it all together again.

Thanks for any suggestions!

p.s. When I remounted the gearbox after I rebuilt it, is there anyway the timing could have gotten knocked out of whack that might explain why the truck ran like absolute crap?

Jen,

Do you frequent RN or Guns' n Rovers boards?

Not to knock the Series guys here, but those two boards are more Series centric and may be able to speak intelligently on the subject.

I would, but I cant spell "intelligently" with out spell check......
