Okay, we need to have a chop top thread too. For those that have done it, please post up some pics and information. Here is a virtual chop on my RRC:

I like the idea of a RRC choptop. But I'd like to get rid of the 2 rear doors and make a pickup truck bed, making the rear doors integrated into the rear quarters.

Does anyone have a pic from Robesonia? There was a super-clean chopped RRC there.

Jeff at JC Rover 4x4 in Denver is in the process of chopping a classic as well. I posted a few pics on the other thread. He would be a good person to talk to about chopping a classic,,, 720/227-9118

At this point, I'm just thinking about it, but want to see what others have done and to get some ideas. Your DII is coming along very nicely, can't wait to see it all done.

Alan, I like the 2nd and 3rd options.

FWIW - I saw a chopped RRC at a used car lot in Big Bear Lake, CA - they were asking $15k for it.
It was rather a nice chop job - with rounded back of the cab, not abruptly cut off like above. But - it didn't look right at all.

I recently did version three and my rear doors are not functional due to the quarter windows we made behind the cab. I am working on a headliner now and am trying to figure out seating options for the back.

In talking to him, the $25K includes the car, custom paint with wet sanding, cage, interior, frame work, reust removal, suspetion overhall, ARB with winch, new tires, new breaks and rotors, and new stereo. He paints all the panels off the body, wet sands them and reatach with stainless hardware. As well as all new exterior trim.

LWB's rear door are longer than the front doors, so this must be a SWB. Without the top, it sure looks long though.

Beautiful work. $25k means he wants you to be serious before you buy one.

I've known the guy who builds the "Robisonia Chop" for a while. He is a stand up dude. Very much into the details. I know he is waiting for the cowl peices, door top trim and front reflectors for the one pictured as they were used on a customers car due to time restraints. And the customer was aware. It almost didn't go to Robisonia due to these little details.

I say if you chop it, chop the whole top off, everything but the windscreen and A pillars.

Otherwise, I'd go w/ the version that keeps the original lines of the vehicle. Pic 3.

Oh, and if you chop the whole top off, I'll take the top if it has the glass sunroof.

I have a roof with glass sunroof available in Maine. Not sure how to ship that.
