How can I pull down the headliner on a RRC without breaking the cardboard backer? Mine is ripping and raining down foam dust. I'd like to recover it and fix teh sunroof while I'm up there.

It's not that hard if you do it gently. I removed my headliner in my RRC with the help of a friend who had done several. After you remove all the fixtures that hold it in place it slides out the back without needing to deform it much. Getting the old foam off is essential, otherwise new adhesive won't stick well. Now that mine is recovered my state of mind is greatly improved when driving.

It only takes about 15 minutes to remove the headliner.
Take off sunvisors, grab handles, interior lights; take it out the back.
Start peeling off all the old stuff.

Or take it to an upholstery shop and let them do that nasty crap...

A cheap bbq grill brush is excellent at removing the old foam from the backing board.

Thanks, I'll have to give it a try. I found Jo-ann's Fabrics has headliner fabric with attached foam. I may try to DIY.
