I suspect that the 9999 is because it requires that a price be listed. I wouldn't take less than $1500 for it.

p m has one and he's stated that it's not for sale. I don't even think that he owns a Classic right now.

Hey Rob do you know if any of the other KVT racks had flat floors like this one? I have seen a few others that were all just round tube, so I am curious.

Shit, my RockStar roof rack has a flat aluminum floor and was one of only 3 built I think.
I'll let it go for a Dweb special price of $10,001. :D

Why not see if you can find someone to copy it and sell them?

Because it just would not be economical and nobody would want to buy them at the price where it would be worth it. There is a reason people go out of business trying to make and sell these roof racks.

i don't think any others had a flat floor. I bought all the round and rectangular tube myself and brought to kyles to build. I think for the rest of them he would have used round tube or whatever was left over from my build. maybe some of the backpack racks had flat floors.

Worth noting I used chromoly tube with thin wall to save weight, however the rectangular tube was on the thicker side so all in all the rack is about as heavy as a SD disco rack.

here is where i got the tube , ten years ago i paid $600 for just the tube, but we had extra when i was done.

I don't know enough to say how healthy their business is, but Voyager and Baja are still in business.

I don't know enough to say how healthy their business is, but Voyager and Baja are still in business.

True but Voyager makes racks for lots of other Rovers, LR3, LR4, 87-2013 RR along with other products. Some of who's owners are willing to spend more than $700 on a roof rack. If they were trying to stay in business on just DI, DII and RRC roof rack sales it would probably be quite different. How many people do you think are willing to pay 1,000 to 1,200 for a roof rack on their 2,500 DI? I would imagine given the size of their product line they probably use computerized benders which will also help. But can only be done to scale.

Baja Racks is even more expanded and they make racks and products for most major brands of 4x4. It's all about the economies of scale. My reply was to a comment about copying and reproducing the KVT racks. Which would have a very limited market of CAB's. Not a statement about roof rack manufacturers in general not being able to be profitable. You have to expand your market base in order to make money on a small margin item like a roof rack.
