Some of you have probably seen this, maybe some of you have one of his products. But Dave is an old friend of mine from high school/early college. His business and philosophy is the epitome of the Rover lifestyle. If you want a good read, look at some of the stories he's written about how his company came about. He now drives a D110!

Reminds me of the King Ranch interior in Fords, looks very nice. Def pricy though. I dont know if I would want to fly and check a 900 dollar suitcase.

Tell him to make D1 seat covers.

Actually...

He did make Defender seats... not covers, seats. I told him he would have a potential market.

Here is an article with some info about the founding of the company and all: http://www.saddlebackleather.com/system/uploads/assets/News/Overland Journal 08 FALL SADDLEBACK.pdf

I was with him on his first trip to Morelia. He went back there the next summer, that is when he had his first bag made.

Yeah, the bags are expensive, after all, they give them away to celebrities in Hollywood.

Definitely. Tell him to consider a DII leather conversion with that for the seats and he'll have a potential customer here. That is nice work. Leather work is not easy nor is it cheap. Pricey, but you get what you pay for boys.

Ben...that is cool you know Dave. He is a stand-up guy. I'd like to meet him one day. I sent him an email a few months ago about an experience I had that indirectly dealt with him and his dad. It changed a guy's life. The guy was looking for some meaning, and I gave him something that Dave had given me. Its a good story. Ask Dave about it.

Ben, when we gonna meet up and go wheel?

Jason, have you sent him a photo of your bag on the hood of your cruiser? How about perched on the spare tire of your Tdi? He collects photos of his bags from around the world.

Great story!

Dude, I'm working on my master's thesis and research, teaching 3 new classes, and still remodeling the kitchen! But... we think the kids might be old enough now to really be worth a drive out to the Utah area sometime soon -- I'll let you know if we ever come through there!

We're starting a remodel too. I'm looking forward to it getting done. Whew!

Wife and I are thinking about taking the family to Moab. I have four kids, and I not sure how the wife, kids, and I are all gonna fit to go four-wheeling. My thought is to buy either an RRC or another Disco! How does that sound.

With respect to the original post, Saddleback Leather makes probably the nicest leather pieces I've seen. They are tough, tough, tough. I have a briefcase and a wallet, and I love them. Dave is a good guy and runs a great company. He runs Saddleback because he likes what he does.

man, i am seriously considering pulling the trigger on one of those satchel or messenger bags. ugh. and i havent even bought christmas gifts yet lol
I use my satchel as a carryon when I fly. I get more compliments than I can count. It carries my ipod, computer, and a change of clothes. Can be worn as a shoulder bag or backpack.

Get it Brian. You'll be glad you did.
