This came in for me today. I am comparing it to my Col. Littleton front pocket wallet I have had since Christmas of 04...

I ordered wallets for both my dad and husband for Christmas. Dad got the medium bifold in black and Ivan got the medium bifold in Tobacco. They love them so far (barely broken in after 3 months), and my dad was ridiculously impressed with the "100year warranty."

Just got the new issue of Cigar Aficionado and there is a mention of Saddleback Leather and a pic of one of their bags (p. 176).

I've known Dave from Saddleback since about 1992, and I started this thread, yet yesterday was when I finally got my first Saddleback product!

I'm going to take photos of it every month to show how it ages, this is day one:

I'm working through a 12 step plan for breaking it in. I may start using it this week, though it's a bit 'clean' for public use just yet.

Yeah, but my computer wouldn't quite fit on day one. I had to coax the leather on the sides to bend and morph in a particular way for one pocket, the other way for another. I spent several hours in front of the TV just stretching it and flexing it.

I left a stack of books in and on it in strategic spots over night, then last night I left the computer in it. I'm now sitting on it at work, and the leather is already conforming to how I want it to fit.

It's already looking and feeling better. The computer and my lunch and other work items now fit just right. When they come out of the box on delivery the leather is very stiff and hardly touched.

yeah, just go out with it fresh, best way to break these pieces in is with battle scars. All of my stuff is weathering beautifully. I wish I could use the briefcase, I just like my patagonia soft bag too much for ease of travel.

After having had mine for over a year, i love the large briefcase. Just put a bit of oil on it every few months and it maintains its well used, yet "fresh" appearance.

Mine is several years old now. JUST starting to really get that broken-in look. Great briefcases.

I bought some of the Chamberlains Leather Milk from Saddleback. Great stuff. Really keeps the leather soft and supple, but does give it a "fresh" look.

Update:

Seven and a half years later....Here's my bag today. Holding up great. I've been using it just about every day for work, etc.

Just got another one today (Flight Bag Briefcase in Dusty Carbon (limited edition color)). I think this one will become my "work" bag and the original for my volunteer "jobs." Or vice versa. We'll have to see.

Anyone else have their bags? How are they holding up?

What? No hipster beer and HK handgun flexing with that bag in the shot?

Don't you know how to do this properly? 🤣

You know, I'd probably get one of those, but thick leather and the high humidity combined with so much pine straw can be an annoyance around here. The ground itself smells musty and moldy. I'd be afraid to try to maintain one.

Cheers,

Kennith

Have a wallet from them that’s held up great. Believe I actually purchased because of this thread
