How did you lift it? Are you using the stock shocks? How much lift? DI or DII?

its a D1- I did big blue springs and rancho shocks, now the shocks are overextended so I thought if I just move the upper mount down a couple of inches I will be ok- but if this isnt a good idea I will do the EE shock mounts but Im poor so I would rather find an inexpensive way to do it.

not sure on a D1 but the easiest way i did it on my rrc was to not lower the top bracket but raise the bottom bracket. on th rrc the shock has a post so i took a piece of .25" box tubing that the dimesions where 2x3" and cut it at about 2" long. drill 2 holes, one in the top and one in the bottom. buy a bolt to bolt the new extentionsion to original mount then bolt the shock through the top hole in the extension.
real easy, real cheap, and it gets the job done
i know im a hack, but it works

I did the same thing on my disco with 3 1/2" of lift, works great. the only problem is depending on the lift you have it could allow the springs to unseat, in which case springs retainers from EE is a good solution.

also you can use different size tubing 2x3,2x2, etc to adjust the height of the bottom of the shock. remember, you dont want your shocks to bottom out. and gettting the right size tubing is cheaper than bump stops, assuming that your tires dont rub first.
also use some kind of lock nut to hold the tubing to the orig. bracket, and if you really want to ante up you can even paint them (that more than doubles the price if the tubing is scrap)....

yeah retainers are good too. (but if your on a budget there are cheaper ways than buying them, .25" flat bar works but i dont know how good it is on the coils of the springs.)

also you can make this same mount and cut the top of the tubing off and drill 2 opposing holes. this enables you to run eye-eye shocks, and even more adjustability
