The truck my kid just rolled became legend in my little town in that last huge storm we had here in the midwest. I got stuck in Chicago because all the trains came out of the city full, no room for new passengers. I was at the first stop coming out,and had to go inbound to get a seat on an outbound train. So I didn't get out to Woodstock till about 10:30 pm. I stopped at a place with about 8 cars including a Sheriff in the ditch. Broke his tow strap trying to get him out, then headed out with as many cars that could still move following me.
When my kid started working at the local subway sandwich place the truck got parked out front. People would come in and say they wouldn't have made it home if they didn't have my tracks to stay in.
I was not ready for the shit. Totally wrote it off as nothing scary. I didn't have enough gas, had none of my recovery gear with me. If you stopped for 10 min. you would get drifted in. I had to use low range because the shit was so heavy and so deep it was hard to keep going. That was the only time I've really been scared I wouldn't make it home in a Disco.Wished like hell I had a full tank of gas and some lockers.
I was glad I couldn't get the sheriff out of the ditch cause I had 2 tall boys in me from the train ride. I had to be over .8. The next morning they sent out some automated phone message that they were closing the shop the next day. I was still in bed and had no intention of even trying to get out of my driveway.
Good luck to all you guys out east getting hammered with this, stay safe but go out and have some fun.
