Speed / Speedometer Sensor Help (installing Rally Computer)

There are a number of speed sensor threads but I have not had much luck replying to old threads.

I organize a stage rally race and need one of my old TerraTrip computers in my 2004 Disco. I have tried a few of the wires which I believed was the electronic speed / speedometer sending / sensor wire before (one on the drivers side, one on the passengers side) with no luck. Can anyone advise which wire is the proper speed sensor / sending wire to tap into (the one that provides sensor data to the speedo)..

Thank you in advance. I'm happy to PayPal a few bucks to whoever can help with this.

Not that it matters, but I'm using an old TerraTrip 202: http://terratrip.com/Manuals/Terratrip GeoTrip Instructions V1 EN.pdf

I used a spare cruise control box and tapped into it that way

My 202 is a little flakey so Im not 100% sure you dont need that “dual sensor input” box to act as a buffer. Mine sometimes registers pulsea at a stop so not sure if its line noise or faulty components. Haven’t tested it with the buffer yet

Yeah, I actually have the dual sensor box thing. I recall I tried using the ABS wire once and then the wire I thought was the speed sensor wire. All 202's are flakey from the factory I think, which is why few people use them anymore in rally. :)

So can I ask, you mention a cruise control box. What wire did you tap into?

And @discostew do you know what ABS wire would be correct (name or color) by chance?

The 202 I can figure out, I just can not determine what Rover wire to use.

Sorry I didn't see this. I kind of think its on a CAN network. Rover used CAN between modules before we took it to the diagnostic connector. I'll find out for sure and get back to you. Pretty sure it was some kind of serial data. robertf was smart to go to the cruise module because in that circuit I think it was so many pulses per mile. Kind of dumbed down to use the same cruise system they already owned.
