Steering wheel cocked to right

Hit a sinkhole the other day. Going from dirt to pavement could not tell that there was a two foot deep hole before the pavement. Hit it with the drivers side front wheel doing between 5 and 10 mph and kind of got the frontend up in the air.

I could not find anything bent or broken (drag link, tie rod, rod ends, pitman arm, steering knuckle, radius arms, and radius arm mounts). The truck drives fine with no noticable difference except that the steering is turned 90deg to the right when going staight.

If anybody has any idea what the problem is that would be helpful

you either bent a steering link( drag link or tie rod) arm or the splined joint where the steering shaft connects to the box slipped.

either way I would be finding the issue befor driving it again for sure.

I would say a bent pan hard rod (also known as a track bar in the rest of the industry) or any of the brackets associated with it. This is the only thing really that locates the axle left to right. If the axle shifted slightly in relation to the frame it should move the pitman arm a little and then the steering wheel. I can't see any of the other steering parts moving the pitman arm, it seems like they would just bend.

^^ Yeah, the steering control arm would def. do that too.

I just checked the panhard rod and mounts everything seems fine there. I have a new steering gear on the way, I hope that it will take care of it.

Is there a way to check the steering control arm to make sure that it is the problem, before I replace the whole unit (which I will do anyway)
