Sticking brake

Hey all - recently picked up a used LR4 with 70k miles from Land Rover White Plains in NY. They did the brakes before we picked it up...we've since put about 10k miles on it. Last night driving home we noticed a slight vibration and when we got home I felt the wheels and the right rear was HOT and stinking like it was dragging. I jacked the back end up this morning and the rears turned freely - took it for a short drive...still hot. Tried releasing the EPB with the cable, didn't seem to help.

Sticking caliper maybe? Not sure why the wheels spun freely when it was jacked up, though. Digging around for the EPB reset procedure - maybe that might help??

Thanks!

Pat

Nice coloration of brake dust on the rotor, too.

It's either the caliper or the slide pins and bracket. Or it's both. Try to pry the piston back in. If it goes back in then you should be able to move the caliper on the slides.

Well, this is frustrating! The new pins are about 2mm thinner than the old...and neither had a place for the rubber piece either. They didn't seem all that'stuck', though - and the pads are worn pretty evenly. Maybe not the issue afterall.
