Stock Gutter Mounts

Aloha,

I have had to take off the voyager rack off the 2003 D2. I would like to mount the ARB awning, shovel and hi-lift jack onto the stock gutters and or stock roof rails.

Wanting to know if anyone has done this before or seen it done before?

I guess what I am asking is, Has anyone seen or developed a mount that clamps onto the stock Discovery 2 roof rails and and mounts to the rain gutters?

You'd probably have to look to a company like Thule or Yakima to find a mount that clamps to the stock roof rails. But I doubt any major companies have anything on the market for the rain gutters.

Thank you. Checked with both companies mentioned and it seems that anything they have is made mostly of plastic.

I’ve taken some dimensions and the gap between is quite high 8+ inches. Then nearly 4 inches inboard from the edge of the roof.

Basically what I have come back to is (3) separate pieces.
1 - gutter mount.
2 - steel angle
3 - tube mount

it is worth noting that I can’t be the only person who might use this configuration if you wanted to mount equipment lower down on the truck. Perhaps I’ll be able to sort it out in the next few weeks.

Why not just mount the awning to one side of the voyager rack and shovel/jack on the other side? Easy solution and everything won’t look out of place like a jack or shovel mounted on a random piece of tubing or whatever.

The Voyager Rack was removed the moment I go home and realized the truck didn't fit into the garage with it on.

I didn't see the mount for the front but you can do the same mounting at the gutter and the top portion attach it or clip it to the factory roof bar.

Maybe it would fit in the garage if you remove the upper rail section. Or get universal gutter mounts if you’re making something.

Surco makes mounts that go on the gutters.
High foot mounts for the rear and a mid for the front.
You can use those, in conjunction with a set from thule that mount to the factory roof rails.
Then do a little fabrication of brackets that can hold the awning.

As a different way to look at this, had the same situation that the Rover wouldn’t fit in the garage. A garage door company came out, changed out some stuff, and the Rover fit in. Not sure how much room you need yet could an alternative.

Ha! That would be ideal and I would do it in hot minute. Sadly we live in a condo tower.
Hawaii is not exactly known for its modern structures. We are lucky to have 6'8" clearance. The garage at my office is 6'2"
