Stuck in Park, S & M Flashing and no hazard lights?

OK> I have searched quite a bit over the last couple of days, so here is my issue and what I know so far based on my searches...

- Truck is a 2002 Disco II

- It was wrecked when I bought it. When I picked it up I hit the inertia switch and it started right up. Took it home and it sat for 6 months. Pulled it out Sunday and tried to start it.

- Truck was in Park with the transfer case in nuetral. Once I pulled it out I put the transfer case in high, did not touch transmission.

- When I turn the key to on, the S&M lights flash, along with the lights on the shifter itself. Plus the little digital indicator on the dash that tells you what gear you are in has a weird symbol in it.

- Hazard lights and blinkers don't work. They worked when I picked it up because they were stuck on. Maybe they were disabled, but I checked the relays and fuses and they are all there.

- Brake lights do work

- Tranny stuck in Park and transfer case stuck in high

- Have tried 2 different batteries

- Truck won't crank

- HDC button does not seem to do anything and the 3 amigos are also on

- Manually put it in neutral by pushing the interlock switch in, still no change

- Alarm does not seem to work. Sometimes the dash LED does blink when the key is in the on position, but not always

- I don't have a code reader

Any ideas???

Thanks...

Battery dead? charge it first (not by running it)

Also, try jumping the brake switch to see if you can shift it out of park on its own.

Thanks for the reply. I tried two different batteries. If the brake lights work, does that prove that the switch is OK? Or not necessarily?

You can actually just jump a wire in the fuse box. No need to crawl under the truck. It is the brown/red wire (in the middle, pin 2) in connector C0571. Look up the connector in the Electrical Library in the Rave manual.

Just jump it to the positive terminal of the battery (with a fuse in the jumper)

yep, or find the safety ground going to the BCU and cut it and ground it out. that way you wont ever have a nostart if a neutral safety switch sticks. I had to do that to mine after a t-case job and it would no start... never figured out why though...
