Having trouble removing the top main bearings. Crank in place and caps have been removed. Spinning the crank doesn't move them at all. I've been able to push with a stiff plastic the bearing bout a 1/4" but no further. Has anyone tried heating theirs? Or have a suggestion? Thanks.

All of them or just one? They can be pretty tight. Vice grips help. The one time I've had one seriously stuck was my own motor which had spun a bearing (no noise or oil pressure problems oddy enough)

I have never tried to remove main bearings without removing the crankshaft. Please post your resolution when you know it.

Is this an automatic? Perhaps try unbolting the crank from the torque convertor. That may free up a little more space and provide less friction.

My grandson came by and helped. I turned the crank as he leveraged a screw driver on the back side of the top bearings. 15 minutes and the 1st 4 mains came right out. The 5th has remained as the cap has not been removed. Its a hard one to remove perhaps because of its side plastic pieces. We tried a needle vice grip with a rubber mallet and she never budged. Hopefully this weekend. Thanks.
