Down by the big rock
...on the www this morning. I must say that it looks nice; especially since it is supposed to keep solid F/R Dana 44s. DCX states that it is going to be out this fall.

I dig it. If it comes available with the Rubicon package and a possible diesel, chances are I will get one. I've been eying them for a while now... I need a new truck, and I'm not feeling the love for the direction LR is going with the possible Defender. Even if it will only be a daily driver.

The Jeep site doesn't indicate that it will be available with an oil burner, but if it is, I'll seriously consider it when I need a new vehicle. This is coming from someone who's be driving Land Rovers as my daily driver, and only Land Rovers, since 1974. I never thought I'd say anything remotely like that.

makes me sick to think we are getting a new Freelander and Jeep is getting this. gotta say it looks pretty cool. well except that those items on the roof are not held down.

They don't need to be tied down they are just stacked really well :)
besides with an almost flat windshield the air will go right over the top of them.
It pisses me off in St. Louis the amount of rock chips you get, damn defender has gotten two in less than a month, my in laws rubicon is chipped to shit from the daily commute.

I like it too. I heard the first year it will be gas only but in '08 it should have a diesel engine option. This is due to EPA/smog diesel changes that go into effect in '07. They had to pull the CRD from the liberty because of this but apparently they are working on a new version.

Brand new ruby model with diesel i bet will run over $30k easily...

everything i've read so far says that we won't get the diesel in the states, it'll just be an export. Rubicon pakcage has already been outlined on a number of different websites.

Ask and yea shall receive...Rubicon that is. It's there. No CRD for '07. Maybe '08.

I think that is some sort of Photo shop. Look at the pinion angle on the front shaft.

I'm already saving pennies for one. I may wait until all of the initial rush subsides though.

The top picture looks more like the photoshop. Bigger wheels and lifted, it doesn't look right

From some article I read, that's EXACTLY where Jeep is targeting in the ROW market (especially Europe/UK) - the D110 driver who drives it for the space and off-road capability. Directly marketing it.

Meanwhile, LR's making themselves "cool," completely losing a market where, even if they weren't there before, could have a large market share in. I'd bet that, if they made a new Defender the right way, they could made a good buck on those who want the Wrangler-type vehicle, but nicer than a Wrangler. Or us.

Obviously, the Utopia I'm creating for my English project is becoming too real to me.
