Sorry for the long post! 20191207_133414.jpg01 discovery 2, 44k miles, old lady owned. Vehicle sat for 8yrs prior. I got it and replaced the battery at that point and had trouble with the hazards not turning off. Problem disappeared on its own after replacing the battery. So I thought I had this problem corrected, but alas it reappeared last night while dimming my lights. Flashers came on and wouldn't go off. I disconnected the battery and reconnected the battery to stop the flashing and left it alone. This morning I started up the disco with no issues or flashing. In an attempt to recreate the problem by turning on the headlights and dimming them it reappeared immediately. With the lights flashing and the vehicle running and doors closed if I press the cdl up or down the horn gives a short honk and locks do nothing....(sometimes, other times they function ) Someone has to know what's going on here. I've checked the connections and interior of all of the modules under the passenger side dash they are clean and no sign of corrosion. I've pulled the interior and exterior fuse boxes and checked each wire and fuse connection and they are free of corrosion as well. I've pulled all earth points and cleaned, there was no corrosion at any point. Pulled the turn signal switch and checked connections inside and out, no corrosion. Pulled the hazard switch and had the same. I bypassed the inertia switch momentarily with no effect, unplugged the bonnet switch and also no change in condition. It hasn't rained in a week or so and no electronics or wiring is wet/damp. The vehicle starts and runs fine, the horn works, all electrical functions of the vehicle work with the exception of the remote unlock. The fob battery is good and I have radio signal transmission from the fob but I'm assuming the receiver is bad. What on earth would the problem be with the hazards? Any help is appreciated!

Do these trucks have hazards that come on automatically in an accident? If so perhaps that switch is the cause of the problem.

I'm almost at the point of fabricating a completely new signal circuit that will bypass the bcm. I'm not going to pay 1600 bucks for a bcm, programming and install at LR just to get rid of flashing lights

Wow. For 1600 you could by a program and a used BCM and program it yourself. And still have some drinking money. Don’t know that for sure but that is the direction I would lean.

Well we've covered this before. Years ago, but I'll do it again. If my hazards won't shut off I usually take the security ecu out of the vehicle and pour beer in it. If I have someone around bitching about alcohol abuse, I drink the beer then piss in the thing. If that don't fix it I rub my pecker on that and the hazard switch. If that doesn't fix it I drink the rest of the beer and piss on the stuff a little more. That will usually fix this kind of shit, but the truck might not run anymore, but the flashers stop.

If that doesn't fix any of this shit, reach in the engine compartment and simply press the center of your inertia switch. You probably hit a big bump or pothole and have tripped the first level of crash response.

The truck sat so long I would start cleaning grounds. I had a similar weird issue that was the ground in the passenger side quarter panel under the light assembly. The doors wouldn't lock and the lights would flash. Cleaned the ground and the problem went away. The indicator for this was the running light would dim when the brake light came on.

The inertia switch has been jumped, I've cleaned every ground on the thing, 1515 eka does nothing, 4 digit code on the card in the owners manual does nothing, I'm not locked out of the vehicle, it starts/runs/drives great. The damned hazards just won't turn off. Taking the batt out of the plip doesn't have any effect whether or not it would make a difference. Should I put a bcm in the truck or make my own signal circuit?

This problem will exist if the rear door is ajar or the rear door light switch is broken or grounded out .

This is also a safety feature on disco,s to warn people you are opening the back door while the engine is running on the side of the road .

Basically a warning to tell you you left the back door open .

I've seen a multifunction do some similar shit. It would get wet. There's a big foam pad above it and it would get saturated then drip into the thing. Once it dried out it would be fixed for a while
