How challenging is it to remove and replace sun damaged dash parts? Well, the parts typically sun damaged.

My D1's dash is so bad that even LR's remedial kit pops off. And I practically never parked it out in the sun without a sun shade.
In sharp contrast, 95 Classics' dashboards are fine despite being black.
That topic reminded me that the last thing I sent to KvT was the 95 RRC soft dash for transplant into his D1.

I am somewhat interested in replacing my D1's dash - following.

I have been selling d2 Dashes to guys that have been putting them in the d1 and we have installed 2 here. I have several Tan ones/two tone (alpaca/black)/black/and grey ones in stock. While I have seen a few peel or crack its few and far between compared to the early d1s.

I just agreed to buy another D1 with a sunburned dash but i haven’t seen it yet. After I retrieve it I will be looking to get it right.

Yup. I replaced my dash in my D1 with a D2 dash. I opted to use the D1 airbag which took a little trimming on the D2 dash. Took me a day. Dropping the steering column will help. Just a few inches was all that was needed.

I know it is a little bit of the wrong place, but it's a 1995 LWB RRC, so some of it is like a Disco. Have any of you fit a D2 dash into a 1995 RRC? Obviously the binnacle area is different with the switches and all, but does it fit into place without extensive modification? Also, I think the D2 dashes were beige or grey until later when they went black. The RRC dash is black but uses a beige glove box and panel below the steering column. I'm hoping this is an option, as there is no finding good 1995 dashes anymore.

I think Peter’s referring to this part.
That's the one. First we replaced the dash and then in about 2000 they sent us a angle screw driver to clear the winshield and you sank self tapping screws into the hard part of the dash. The plastic strips kind of clamped down the front edge that was curling. When everything went perfectly it still looked like shit.

They call that a soft dash Classic. When this car company brings out a new product they try some of the new systems on the tried and true models they have been building. That dash was the last year of the classic. I have never seen one of those curl, just like I've never seen a 99 disco1 dash curl. They got it right then they stopped building it, went on to the Disco2.
