It's not factory. I don't recall who sold that kit but I've seen a couple of them. No way is that thing worth 35K. It's worth less because of the supercharger.

I have seen that truck on AT for months. If it wasn't for the ridiculous price I would have inquired because it looks super clean, and with supercharger and 5speed this thing is just asking to grow up into a real boy.

I am curious. The place that sells it is about 10 miles from work.
But ... 35k for a D1? I can imagine a brand-new, but never used, Camel Trophy D1 that could fetch that coin.

Guy needs to put it on Bring a Trailer. I dont know about $35,000 but I would bet it would fetch mid 20s, maybe more if the right 2 people get in a bidding war. It is super clean.

I just ditched a transmission that was in an 88 Classic with a Cameron Concepts-supercharged 4.6. In the retrospect, I have known the history and should not have used this box.
That's to say the supercharger works all right. What's behind the motor - probably not.

Interesting. Does this suggest you are not particularly optimistic on the new wave of LS upgrades installed in front of Rover transmissions?

All LS upgrades I've seen used either 4L60E or 4L80E or 6L80E. 4HP22? You need to put a brick under that gas pedal.

I don’t know why anyone would go through all that work and leave it a 4 speed transmission. I use a 6L80 or AX15 if the customer wants a manual. We’re redoing an LS swap another shop did with the NV4500. That shifts like crap in my opinion.

4-speed is not the only issue with 4L60 and 4L80 - it is front driveshaft clearance at the transmission oil pan. Nick says 6L80E is a lot slimmer.
I'd love me an AX-15, though, even if it is not the crispest-shifting box.

Yea, AX15s are pretty stout. NV4500s are cool and all, and you can shift them like a drunk monkey and they'll never break..but they are very much a truck transmission. The AX15 is super smooth compared to it.

I was under the impression that the 4L60 wouldn't work due to front DS clearance, but the 80 does. I'd use a 6L80 all day if given the choice, though.
