I hate this thing.:banghead: Why oh why did we ever agree to this? Anyone have any suggestions wiring this thing. The engine is out of a D2 and so is the tranny, but I've heard we'll have to go with a defender tranny cause the D2 one requires you to run a BCU. I've done plenty of research and it sounds like we'll have to source another brain and harness also.

I've only done 2 trucks with the TD5, both were 110's, but it's the same for the 90. Both were manual, but I don't think it really matters. I would not bolt up an auto from anything earlier, the td5 will roach it rather quickly. I'd call Dave at Ashcroft and chat with him.

PM me for "good" details.

And if you're banging your head over this "little" snafu, then the good times are coming.

Ze (surf110 over on D-90) built a Td5 110 pretty much from scratch. He may be a good resource as well.

I am converting my wiring harness over to a late 300 Tdi that uses the Td5 wiring harness but modified for the 300. The thing I am running into is the connectors are totally different. I think that I am going to get the complete wiring harness for everything, might make it easier. At any rate I got the main harness from George at RDS. Steven Peters will also have some stuff. The Td5 harness can be found on Ebay UK pretty cheap too.

Yes, we have quite a few Td5 harnesses in stock. What connectors do the late-model 300's have? I only have experience with the early one-wire versions.

The early 300's have the rubber connectors. The Td5 stuff has plastic connectors. Also the newer stuff has more wires for the creature comforts. Also the Td5 dash is different as it uses some of its input from the ECU. Plenty of threads on how to modify the harness if you search the UK sites. I found a instrument harness that was made for the Td5 dash but running the 300 Tdi. For the newer spedo you have to get a transducer that replaces the cable. I have not tried it yet so we shall see how good it will be. I am now looking to source the chassis harness. I would rather have all plug and play if possible. I am keeping track of all of the part numbers to make it easier in the future if I ever do it again.

I have the Td5 dash with a 300Tdi, so yes it will work.

Did you get the transducer to change out the spedo cable for the electronic version? Did you also change your temp sending unit with the "green" one?

It's a factory setup, so i didn't had to change a thing. But i do have the electronic version of the speedometer and for the temperature sending unit, well i'll have to check.
